Changing Your Password

Overview/Introduction

The instructions below will show you how to change the password associated with your Ursinus user account.  You can change your password at your own discretion, or Tech Support may ask you to change your password if they detect unusual activity on your account.

Notes:

  • This procedure will only work if you know your current password.  If you have forgotten your password, Tech Support can reset your password and help you regain access to your account.  Please use our Password Reset service to request assistance.

  • Ursinus College or any legitimate organization will never ask you for your password.  Do not give or share your password to anyone for any reason.

  • After changing your password, devices such as phones, tablets, etc. on which you currently use Ursinus email or the Ursinus Secure WiFi network, will need to be updated with the new password.

Changing Your Password:

  • Login to the Ursinus Connect Portal/Okta:  https://ursinus.okta.com/
  • After signing in, you will be taken to the main applications page.  At the top of the page, your first name should be listed.  Click on your name and then select the "Settings" option in the drop-down menu.  After clicking on 'Settings', you will be taken to your account settings page.
  • Click on the "Edit Profile" button in the top right-hand corner.
    • You will be asked to re-enter your current password for security purposes.
    • You will then be challenged by multi-factor authentication.  This is a reminder that the Okta Verify App (Apple App Store download) (Google Play Store download) is the preferred method for authentication, but text is an allowed secondary option. Enter the code you receive via the Okta Verify app or via text message.
  • You will now be able to change your password using the "Change Password" box:
  • If your password was changed successfully, you will see a success message.
  • If you see an error message, it could be due to any of the following reasons:  entering your old password incorrectly, not typing the new password correctly twice so that they match, or you didn’t meet the password complexity rules.
  • For assistance, contact Tech Support at 610-409-3789 or techsupport@ursinus.edu
