FortiClient VPN

Overview/Introduction

This article will walk users through how to install and run the FortiClient VPN client application to access campus resources from off campus.

How to download and Install

1. Visit the following website to download the FortiClient VPN client: https://www.fortinet.com/support/product-download 
   NOTE: Firefox may have issues downloading the application we recommend Chrome or the Microsoft edge browser
2. Once there scroll down and click on the option for FortinetClient VPN-only
3. This will take you to another page which will show different download options depending on what operating system your devices uses
4. Once you click on the appropriate download link you will next need to fill out the form to download the Forticlient VPN
5. Once the form is filled out a download button will appear at the bottom. Click it and another window will pop up showing the options for which operating system you want to download the VPN Client for. Click the appropriate one for your device
6. Once you download the installer you may open it and begin installing the FortiClient VPN Client
7. Windows will prompt you if you want to install it, click yes and the FortiClient VPN will begin installing itself
8. Once it finishes the installation a new window will appear for the FortiClient VPN install wizard
9. Click the check box to accept the license agreement and hit the next button
10. In the next window click the install button
11. It will then begin installing the FortinClient VPN software
12. Once that is done you can click the finish button on the install wizard
13. Once that is done a new desktop icon will be added to your desktop called the FortiClient VPN
14. Double click the icon and a new window will appear. Check the agreement box and hit the I Accept button
15. In the next window click the Configure VPN button
16. Copy the following settings exactly as pictured. NOTE: Click the image for more detail.
17. Hit the save button
18. In the next window hit the Connect button to connect to the FortiClient VPNNote: After the initial setup whenever you need to connect to the VPN from off campus you can either use the icon on the desktop, or in your system tray in the bottom right hand corner of your screen can do so by right clicking the Forticlient VPN app and click Connect to "Ursinus VPN"
19. Afterward a new window will appear asking you to fill in the credentials you use to sign into your Ursinus Email account
20. Once hit the sign in button it send a notification to the Okta app on your phone
21. Confirm that it is you signing into the VPN and you will then be connected to it in a few seconds
