Whenever you get a new personal or college-issued mobile phone, there are a few important steps to take to make sure it will work correctly on campus. These steps include connecting to the Ursinus Secure WiFi network and connecting your phone to Multi-Factor Authentication.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a login or credential verification practice that adds an extra layer of protection on top of your Ursinus College user name and password.
***We strongly suggest that you set up (at least) two authentication methods (e.g. you want the option of using the Okta Verify app and receiving an SMS text message). This will make it easier to reconnect new devices when you get a new phone or change devices independently and quickly. If you ONLY use one method you've already changes devices you will need to visit Tech Support to address Multi-factor Authentication lockout issues. If you visit the OKTA Verify portal before or while transferring and you only have one option chosen you can remove the option ahead of the phone change to help avoid lockout issues.***
When switching from a mobile device that was previously setup to use Ursinus MFA, to a new mobile device, you will need to contact Ursinus College Tech Support at 610-409-3789. Tech Support will need to reset your MFA settings in order for you to proceed in setting up your new mobile device. If you have two methods of authentication previously set via OKTA Verify you will be able to use the text message option in the case where your phone number hasn't changed. If your number is new and your device is new you will again need to visit Tech Support in person to verify your identity for a reset.
If at any time you have any questions or want assistance, please stop by the Learning Curve in the Myrin Library with your device, or call Tech Support at 610-409-3789.
