Creating a Bloomberg Account

1. Go to the library 1st floor and sit at one of the Bloomberg terminals in the lab.  We have 12 computers that have Bloomberg Licenses.  The circled computers are the ones that hold the licenses. 

2. Log on to the computer using your URSINUS login and password.  

3. Double Click the Bloomberg Icon

4. After Bloomberg launches, click CREATE NEW LOGIN

5. Answer the questions on the next screen and click NEXT

6. Fill in the information on the next screen making sure to put your cell number in BOTH the company and mobile phone slots. Then click NEXT

7. Bloomberg will ask for a method of authorization for  your account.  This can be SMS text, a phone call, or an email.  Choose your preference, capture the code, and click NEXT.

8. Insert the authorization code and click NEXT

9. Create a password following the specifications on the right hand of the screen and click NEXT

10. Once you are successful in creating your login and password you will get the confirmation page.  Click LOG IN NOW to start your Bloomberg journey.

11. Now log in with your newly created login and password and start seeing the power of Bloomberg.

 

12. Once you log your will have five screens popup.  The first screen asks about customizing your desktop view.  This is something that you can do once you are more familiar with Bloomberg.  For now, click NO.

13. You will always be looking for the BLUE RECTANGLE.  This is akin to the Google Search BAR.  Type any company’s ticker here to gather information on their financials, press releases, trends, and so much more.  

**OPTIONAL**  Logging on to the Bloomberg Certifications

1. Once you are logged in to the Bloomberg Terminal type BCER into the BLUE RECTANGLE and hit ENTER

 

3. Click I AM A LEARNER and check the first box. The click SIGN UP.

4. The courses will launch on Microsoft Edge in the background of Bloomberg, so you might have to minimize your Bloomberg windows. Click Certificates.

5. There are THREE (BFF, BMC, and BESG) certificates available each that take about 8 hours.  You will need headphones (either wired or wireless) to listen to the videos.  Following each module you will take a small quiz that you will need to score 70% or higher to pass.  Once you finish all the modules you will receive a certificate that is backed by Bloomberg.  This certificate achievement can be shared on social media platforms with a click of a button.

6.  When you log into the courses for the SECOND time:

a. In the blue rectangle type BCER

b. On the left side click LOG IN

c. Click the GRAY Bloomberg Terminal Users Log In

d. The courses will once again launch in the background on Microsoft Edge.
