Report Suspicious Condition / Suspicious Item

What Is It?

Use this form to report a suspicious condition - usually a suspicious, unattended, or unusual item, package, vehicle, or physical situation that may pose a safety or security risk.

A suspicious condition can include:

  • An unattended bag, package, or container in an unusual place (lobby, stairwell, restroom, near an entrance, etc.) that seems out of place
  • A vehicle parked in a restricted or unusual location for an extended time
  • Visible signs of tampering with doors, locks, or equipment
  • Unusual substances, powders, or strong chemical odors
  • Any object or condition that is Hidden, Obviously suspicious, and not Typical (HOT) for that location

If you believe an item may be an explosive or hazardous device (suspicious package):

  • Do not touch, move, or open it.
  • Keep others away from the area.
  • Call Campus Safety at 610-406-3333 or 911 immediately.
  • Submit this form only if it is safe and practical to do so after calling.

If you are not sure whether a condition is suspicious, you are encouraged to report it. Campus Safety will evaluate the information and determine the appropriate response.

This form is not a substitute for emergency calling.
If there is an immediate threat to safety, call Campus Safety at 610-409-3333 or 911 first, then submit this form to provide details if appropriate.

After you submit this report:

  • Campus Safety will review the information and may:
    • Dispatch officers to the area,
    • Coordinate with Facilities or other departments,
    • Contact specialized responders if a hazardous item is suspected.
  • Your report may also help identify patterns or locations needing additional security or maintenance attention.

When to Use This Service

Use this service when:

  • You notice a suspicious, unattended, or unusual item (bag, package, container, vehicle, etc.) that seems out of place or potentially dangerous.
  • You see a physical condition that suggests tampering, hazard, or possible criminal intent (e.g., cut locks, propped secure doors, unusual tools left in restricted areas).

Do not use this service when:

  • There is an immediate emergency (possible bomb, active hazardous leak, etc.) → Call Campus Safety / 911 first.
  • You’re reporting general facilities issues that are clearly non‑suspicious (floor scuffs, routine maintenance) → use the Facilities Concern or regular Facilities work‑order process.
