What Is It?
Use this form to report or confirm that a vehicle has been towed from campus property and to document the details of the tow. This service is used when:
- Campus Safety or Parking authorizes a vehicle to be towed (e.g., unregistered, illegally parked, blocking access, abandoned).
- A student, faculty, or staff member believes their vehicle was towed from campus and needs information on what to do next.
Proper towing documentation should include:
- Reason for towing and the relevant parking/vehicle policy
- Date/time, location, and description of the vehicle
- Towing company used, where the vehicle was taken, and how the owner can retrieve it
- Any deadlines, fees, or procedures the owner must follow
Documenting each tow protects both the institution and the vehicle owner by creating a clear record of why the tow occurred, who authorized it, and how the owner was instructed to respond.
If you believe your vehicle has been towed from campus:
- Contact Campus Safety (610-409-3333) first to confirm whether the vehicle was towed or if another issue is involved.
- If the vehicle was towed, Campus Safety will provide:
- The towing company’s information,
- Where your vehicle is located,
- What you need to bring (ID, proof of ownership/insurance, payment information), and
- Any deadlines or storage fees that may apply.
This form helps Campus Safety collect and confirm the necessary information and maintain a record of the tow.
Who Can Use This Service
- Students who believe their vehicle was towed or who were notified of a tow
- Faculty and staff in the same situation
- Campus Safety / Parking staff documenting tows they authorized
- Risk Management staff, if they need to reference towing records
When to Use This Service
Use this service when:
- A vehicle has been towed or removed from campus property at the direction of Campus Safety/Parking.
- A community member believes their vehicle was towed and you want to create an incident record with details and retrieval information.
- Campus Safety wants to log a tow for policy enforcement, appeals, or future reference.
Do not use this service when:
- There was a vehicle crash requiring separate incident documentation → use Vehicle Crash for the collision details, then link to Vehicle Towed if a tow was also required.
- The vehicle was voluntarily removed by a private tow at the owner’s request (e.g., breakdown with AAA) and there is no policy or enforcement issue; internal documentation may still be useful but is not always required.
