Is my Ursinus virtual event better as a Zoom Meeting or a Zoom Webinar?
Here are some questions to consider:
- What is the format of the event?
- Presentational--Lecture, One-direction communication
- Meeting--Discussion, Collaboration, Multi-directional communication
- Who is your expected audience?
- Small Interest area, Entire Campus, or Surrounding Community?
- Attendance amount: Under 300, Over 300, or over 500?
- If audience is over 500, broadcast support is needed--contact Tech Support
- Is this a Complex/Hybrid Meeting or Webinar? Request Support.

Zoom Meeting vs Zoom Webinar Features Comparison
ZOOM MEETING:
- Any Ursinus Faculty or Staff member, or a Student with a Pro license, can host a meeting for unlimited time.
- 300 Participant limit
- Host, Co-hosts, and Participants capabilities
- Hosts and Participants can share Video & Screen
- Interactive- participants can speak, use reactions, and raise hand
- Breakout Rooms
- Meeting chat
- No Q&A
ZOOM WEBINAR:
- Convener must ask Tech Support if a Zoom Admin is available to host, or if one of the limited Webinar licenses is available for the convener to host the event.
- 500 attendee limit
- Host, Co-hosts, Panelists, and Attendees capabilities
- Hosts and Panelists ONLY can share Video & Screen
- Attendees are in "Listen only" mode
- Can only "raise hand" or "Ask to talk" for feedback
- No Breakout Rooms
- Hosts and Panelists can Chat
- Several Chat options for Attendees: No chat, Chat Only with Host and Panelists, or Chat with Everyone
- Separate Question & Answer area to submit and moderate questions.
