Overview/Introduction

OneDrive is a cloud-based file storage solution available to Ursinus faculty, staff, and students. OneDrive allows you to add, edit, and share files from any Wi-Fi enabled device.

How do I access and use OneDrive online?

  1. Log in to Office 365 (www.office.com) with your Ursinus credentials.  
  2. Click on the grid of dots in the top left-hand corner to see a list of available apps.
  3. Select OneDrive (Not in the list? Select "All apps" at the bottom and then choose OneDrive from the expanded list). 
  4. Select New at the top to create a new file or upload a website link to your OneDrive account.
  5. Select Upload to upload multiple files and folders that are stored on your computer to OneDrive. Click on the file name to edit the file.

How can I download and use OneDrive on my computer?

Follow the instructions below to download OneDrive to your computer. You can then save any file you create on your computer (e.g. Word document, PowerPoint) by clicking File > Save As and saving it to One Drive-Ursinus College folder. Alternatively, you can drag and drop files into this folder.

Windows 10 or later

If you have Windows 10 or later, OneDrive is already on your computer. Search for OneDrive using the search icon on your taskbar and open it. Alternatively, you can click on the Windows logo and find the application in the list.

When prompted, sign in with your Ursinus credentials. If it doesn’t prompt you to sign in, follow these instructions:

  1. Open OneDrive on your computer by following the instructions above.
  2. Rright-click the blue cloud icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your taskbar.
  3. Go to Settings and sign in with your Ursinus credentials. (Contact Tech Support if you still cannot sync OneDrive with your Ursinus account).

Mac or Older Windows Computers

  1. Log in to Office 365 (www.office.com) with your Ursinus credentials.
  2. Click on the grid of dots in the top left-hand corner and select OneDrive.
  3. Select Get the OneDrive apps in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
  4. Follow the instructions to download OneDrive to your computer. It will prompt you to sign in with your Ursinus credentials.

How do I use OneDrive on my mobile device?

Install the OneDrive app on your mobile device and sign in with your Ursinus credentials. You can now view your files and upload new files. If you want to edit a file saved in OneDrive, you will also need to install the Microsoft app needed to edit it (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

How do I share files/folders in OneDrive with others?

You can share files or entire folders from OneDrive with people inside or outside your institution. You can give them viewing or editing access. If two people are editing the same document in OneDrive online, each of you will see the changes in real time. You can also leave a comment on the document.

  1. Log in to Office 365 (www.office.com) with your Ursinus credentials.
  2. Click on the grid of dots in the top left-hand corner and select OneDrive. 
  3. Click the circle next to the file(s) or folder(s) you want to share.
  4. To send an email to the people you want to share the file with, select the Share button at the top. If you want to copy the link and share it with them in another way,, click Copy Link.
    1. If you want to share the file(s) with only certain individuals, click the drop-down next to “Anyone with the link can view and edit” and choose Specific People. Type in the first person’s name (last name first) or email address and then select their name from the drop-down. Do this for each person.
    2. Uncheck the box that says "Allow Editing" if you only want them to view the file(s).
  5. Click Apply.
