Body

Overview/Introduction

The Ursinus Student wireless network is designed for students to connect all your devices such as computers, cell phones, streaming sticks, TV's, Amazon Alexa's, and game consoles. This article will show you how to connect your devices to this network.

***Please make sure to read the entire article first before trying to connect to the Ursinus Student Network.

How to connect to the Ursinus Student Wireless

  1. Do not try to connect to the Ursinus Student wireless before completing the following steps first! If you do, please make sure to forget the Ursinus Student network first before proceeding.
  2. Visit the following URL from your phone (while on cellular), or from a computer with internet access.  --->   go.ursinus.edu/wifi
  3. You will be taken to a Microsoft login screen where you will enter your Ursinus email address including the @ursinus.edu at the end.
NOTE: If you are signed into a personal Microsoft account, you will need to sign out of that account first and then sign into your @ursinus.edu one.

  4. The next page will be the normal Ursinus College login screen you are used to seeing when signing into other resources on campus. Please fill out your username (you do not need the @ursinus.edu for this one), and your Ursinus login password.

  5. After that you will be taken to the Wi-Fi password portal. The top box will contain the password you will use to connect your devices to the Ursinus Student Wireless. This password is auto-generated by the system. You will use this one password for all your devices. (The below example password has been scribbled out by the black line but is where your password will be shown.)

  6. Once you have this password generated, you can connect your device(s) to the Ursinus Student wireless network. When your device prompts you for the Wi-Fi password, enter the one given to you.
  7. You should now be connected to the Ursinus Student wireless. The password that was generated for you by following the instructions above should be reused for any other devices you want to connect to the Ursinus Student network.
  8. If you have any issues where you were connected to the network and then you are suddenly disconnected and it won't let you reconnect, please 'forget' the Ursinus Student network from your device and reconnect to it again with the same password.
  9. If you forget your password, you can return to the password page and it will show you the current password generated for you.
  10. If you believe your password has been compromised, go back to the page with the generated password and click the second window to "Regenerate Wi-Fi Password".
  11. Keep in mind that by resetting your password you will have to go to all your devices again and enter the new password to connect them back to the Ursinus Student wireless. You may have to forget the Ursinus Student wireless from your device before attempting to enter the new password.

Some Things to keep in mind

  1. You do not need to generate a new password for every device you want to connect--the same password will be used for all your devices.
  2. A unique password will be generated for each user who accesses the password portal, as described above.
  3. If you have multiple Apple devices, you should only need to enter the password on one of them and then it should sync the password between all your Apple devices. If the password doesn't sync, you can just manually re-enter the password on each device.
  4. Make sure your device "knows" only the Ursinus Student network when trying to connect.  If you had tried to connect it to the Ursinus Public or Ursinus Secure network previously, make sure the device forgets those networks as knowing more than one network could cause connection issues.
  5. If you are having trouble please try our Wireless troubleshooting guide, which will walk you through some steps to remediate any issues by yourself first, before skipping to the Need Help? section below and submitting a ticket.
